November 29, 2022 – Proto, a provider of life-sized holographic communications solutions, has recently announced that it has partnered with StoryFile, a creator of an AI-powered conversational video platform called ‘Conversa,’ along with Walmart to digitally recreate the retailer’s founder, Sam Walton as a hologram.
Walmart’s Heritage Group debuted the hologram at the Southeastern Museums Conference in Bentonville, US. The StoryFile recreation of Walmart founder Sam Walton in Proto’s holographic device – the original 4k holoportation machine – teaches viewers about the retail company’s core values, Walton’s rules of business, and answers questions about the early history of Walmart. The hologram will eventually be on display in The Walmart Museum, which is currently undergoing a renovation.
“Partnering with StoryFile on creating the Sam Walton hologram has brought a new dimension to the Walmart Museum’s array of exhibits. It speaks directly to how we think about our company: people-led and tech-empowered,” said Alan Dranow, Senior Director, Walmart Heritage Group. “Conversational video is a cutting-edge technology that enables visitors to the Walmart Museum to get a feeling of what it would be like to ask Sam Walton ‘directly’ questions about Walmart’s heritage. It’s educational, inspirational and very engaging.”
StoryFile is the inventor of the Conversa AI conversation platform, which provides tools to collect video, create and train AI interactions, and publish content anywhere on the web. Conversa is already in use by many Fortune 500 companies, according to the company.
Proto is the creator of its self-contained, plug-and-play, 4K hologram unit, which is used globally by industries including telecoms retail, hospitality, education, entertainment, telehealth, the arts and more. Proto’s holographic teleportation (or “Holoportation”) solutions have been used for live beaming and display by companies such as AT&T, T-Mobile, HBO, Netflix, the NFL, Christie’s, America’s Got Talent, Verizon, CBS Sports, PwC, DHL and more. The company’s technology has also appeared at events including the Super Bowl, the US Open, Art Basel Miami, and K-Pop’s KCON events.
