Varjo Announces Teleport 2.0 to Streamline 3D Capture and Digital Twin Creation

In Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality News

April 28, 2025 Varjo, a provider of industrial-grade virtual and mixed reality (VR/MR) hardware and software, has recently announced Teleport 2.0, a major upgrade to its spatial capture platform that the company states delivers “a generational leap” in 3D capture fidelity and creative capability for professional users.

Teleport 2.0 allows content creators to combine high-quality 3D capture with the simplicity of a fully automated, cloud-based workflow, eliminating the need to choose between basic scanning tools or complex photogrammetry setups.

According to Varjo, Teleport 2.0 uses enterprise-grade GPU processing and advancements in Gaussian Splatting reconstruction to deliver 3D capture quality comparable to high-end photogrammetry, while streamlining the overall workflow.

“With Teleport 2.0, creators no longer have to choose between the ease of consumer-grade scanning apps, or the visual fidelity of expert photogrammetry hardware and software,” said Patrick Wyatt, Chief Product Officer at Varjo. “We’re delivering best-in-class visual quality, fully automated cloud processing, and the flexibility and control that professional work demands.”

New capabilities in Teleport 2.0:

  • Upgraded 3D reconstruction engine: Large scenes can be captured in minutes and automatically processed without manual steps, all while preserving real-world detail, according to Varjo.
  • Support for any camera: Users can capture spaces and scenes with phones, drones, DSLRs, or other imaging devices. Scans can also be viewed on any device, according to Varjo.
  • Tools for creating immersive experiences: Teleport 2.0 allows users to build virtual tours, or link multiple scans together to build massive explorable digital twins.

Varjo stated that for large-scale projects, the platform processes thousands of images on high-powered cloud GPUs, enabling the creation of richly detailed digital twins. Additionally, users retain full ownership and control over their 3D creations and can freely import and export data. The company also noted that Teleport does not opt users’ data into generative AI training.

Christophe Hitié, a 3D creator who specializes in digitizing urban art, said “Teleport lets me forget about manual tweaking and endless software updates. I upload, it processes, and I come back to spectacular, professional-quality scenes, leaving me free to capture more places and worry less.”

Teleport 2.0 is available today. Users can create and share up to five 3D scenes with a free account, while expanded capabilities are available through Teleport’s Professional Plan for EUR €29.99/month. To learn more or start creating with Teleport 2.0, visit teleport.varjo.com.
