September 17, 2019 – ThirdEye, provider of augmented and mixed reality (MR) enterprise solutions, has today announced the availability of its X2 Glasses. The X2 glasses provide an all-in-one hardware and software solution, with ThirdEye aiming to streamline the quality of work and performance for companies across all industries, including field services, health care, manufacturing, airlines, architecture, education, and insurance.
ThirdEye states that its X2 Glasses are “the smallest MR glasses on the market”, with the glasses offering advanced technological capabilities suited for extensive wear both indoors and outdoors. Weighing only 9.8 ounces, the X2 Glasses feature a 42 degree field of view (FoV), thermal, ambient light, and flashlight sensors, as well as ThirdEye’s proprietary SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) system built in. This system, called VisionEye SLAM, allows for advanced MR features not available on a monocular device. The glasses include two grey-scale cameras, a high resolution RGB camera (13-megapixel HD), 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis compass and noise cancelling microphones that allow for audio commands. A longer battery life is also achieved, thanks to a 1750mAH single battery, which allows 40 percent faster charging with quick charging, according to the company.
The X2 Glasses run on Android OS and users will have access to hundreds of apps in the ThirdEye App Store. Furthermore, developers will be able to utilize the company’s software platform, which allows them to customize applications with existing SDKs and APIs. ThirdEye also offers ThirdEye Workspace, an enterprise software platform built into the X2 Glasses, which includes AR/MR capabilities such as live AR remote help and 3D SLAM based CAD modeling and overlay.
“Our goal is to become the most recognizable smart glasses in the AR and MR industry, and so far we’ve created the widest field of view in the smallest form factor possible,” said Nick Cherukuri, Founder of ThirdEye Gen. “The X2 Glasses are unlike anything else on the market right now – between the affordable price tag, powerful technology and beautiful form – we are giving workers all across the enterprise the opportunity to really elevate their level of work. Coupled with our advanced AR software platform, we’re simultaneously providing companies with nearly 40 percent savings in productivity improvements.”
Finally, ThirdEye is integrating 5G mobile edge computing into the X2 Glasses, and by doing so, hopes to provide higher bandwidth and lower latency to X2 users, allowing for more data to be transferred at a higher speed. The company was also recently granted patents, which ThirdEye states will help further develop its technology and establish itself as a leader within the AR/MR space.
The X2 Glasses are now available for purchase at a price of USD $1,950. Pre-orders for the glasses as well as a USD $300 discount on ThridEye’s website will remain effective until the remaining mass production units are delivered in October, according to the company.
