October 1, 2020 – Mass Virtual, a provider of XR simulation solutions for education and training, has this week announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract worth USD $59 million to provide its virtual training solutions in partnership with the USAF Integrated Technology Platform (ITP). The first orders in the amount of USD $8.1 million are scheduled to be completed by the end of FY 2021, according to the company.
Mass Virtual stated that it was awarded an ‘Other Transaction Authority’ (OTA) agreement for a Prototype project on September 20, 2020 as a result of a Pitch Day at the Advanced Technology and Training Center in Warner Robins, GA. The company noted that the contract announced this week is the result of a sole source award to September’s OTA and will involve the provision of virtual aircraft real-time task manual instruction, simulations of real workspaces for occupational health & safety, and educational & training solutions throughout the Air Force.
In its announcement, the company stated: “The Mass Virtual team is thrilled to continue innovating and supporting the Air Force vision for virtual, augmented and mixed reality with its Virtual Hangar enterprise platform, delivering vital training on more than 20 aircraft platforms to our Nation’s warfighters stationed around the world.”
Mass Virtual designs and develops virtual, mixed and augmented reality (collectively XR) products and content development tools for its customers in the defence industry. The company offers its ‘Virtual Attain’ enterprise-level development platform, which is focused on supporting the next-generation of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training solutions, with virtual reality at the forefront of the platform.
