June 18, 2024 — Doublepoint Technologies, a provider of gesture technology, has today unveiled its WowMouse gesture solution for augmented reality (AR) at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2024. This latest WowMouse update from the company transforms Android smartwatches into AR gestural input devices. The company has also worked with spatial computing company Magic Leap to enhance the user experiences on its Magic Leap 2 headset.
“We are thankful to the Magic Leap team for lending their incredible AR expertise to help us take the human AR experience to the next level with WowMouse micro-gesture controls,” said Ohto Pentikäinen, CEO and co-founder of Doublepoint. “The demand for intuitive and powerful interactions with wearable devices is continuing to grow, and we’re excited to be at the forefront of offering new innovations in gesture technology.”
Doublepoint first introduced its WowMouse app at CES 2024, marking the company’s entry into wearable technology and interactive digital interfaces. WowMouse leverages the company’s core algorithm to enable micro-gestures that transform smartwatches into wrist-based mice. The company stated that since its debut, its app has achieved more than 55,000 downloads. Now with this latest AR feature, WowMouse provides an input solution for greater flexibility and offers an option that caters to diverse environments and spatial computing use cases.
By Bluetooth-pairing a Magic Leap 2 with an Android smartwatch running WowMouse, users can activate “WowMouse AR Mode.” The feature allows for seamless control of AR environments through gaze and pinch interactions using Magic Leap’s latest headset, according to the company.
Attendees at AWE 2024 will have the exclusive opportunity to witness the Doublepoint’s solutions for human-computer interaction and get hands-on demonstrations of WowMouse AR this week at the Long Beach Convention center from June 18-20.
The WowMouse app can be downloaded on the Google Play Store. For more information on Doublepoint and its gesture technology for augmented reality and wearable devices, please visit the company’s website.
