In Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality News
June 1, 2020 – Varjo, a provider of industrial-grade virtual/extended reality (VR/XR) headsets, has today announced the expansion of its value-added reseller network in the Asia-Pacific region with Bohemia Interactive Simulations, a provider of training and simulation solutions. As part of the commercial agreement, Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) will resell Varjo head mounted displays (HMDs) to its customers in Australia and New Zealand who are interested in high-fidelity virtual and mixed reality solutions for training and simulation.
BISim’s portfolio will feature both of Varjo’s human-eye resolution headsets, the VR-2 and VR-2 Pro (including hand tracking), as well as the company’s photorealistic mixed reality XR-1 Developer Edition device, which makes it possible to seamlessly mix synthetic and real content. Combined with BISim’s VBS Blue image generation system and associated professional services, training system developers will now be able to create highly immersive, cost-effective solutions for the scenarios across land, sea, air, and space use cases, according to Varjo.
“Varjo provides the only HMDs with human-eye resolution that allow trainees to read small text and see objectives at realistic visibility ranges in virtual and mixed reality simulations,” said John Burwell, Global Lead Simulation and Training at Varjo. “With the industry’s most advanced integration with our mixed reality HMD XR-1, VBS Blue IG is an ideal software platform to address emerging requirements for mixed reality training where a user needs to see and interact with a physical cockpit or crew stations while immersed in a synthetic environment. Together with BISim, we are thrilled to accelerate VR/XR training opportunities for our customers in the Asia-Pacific region”.
Ryan Stephenson, Managing Director of Bohemia Interactive Australia, commented: “BISim is excited about deepening the partnership with Varjo in Australia and New Zealand”. He added, “Virtual and mixed reality technologies can bring major cost savings and portability compared to other forms of visual systems. With Varjo’s photorealistic visual fidelity and integrated eye tracking, combined with the power of VBS Blue IG, we can now provide to our customers the best quality in virtual and mixed reality training.”
Varjo states that with a stronger presence in the Asia-Pacific region, its technology will now be more accessible to clients for in-person demos, training, testing and project reviews. BISim will offer customers an opportunity to experience Varjo HMDs in-person in their experience center, as well as offer trials through Varjo’s new contactless remote demo kit program.
Varjo launched its global reseller network a year ago to provide enterprise customers globally with more access to its VR/XR industrial headsets. Since then, the program has grown to include over 30 authorised reseller partners across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Middle East, according to the company.
