EON Reality Inaugurates Mauritius Interactive Digital Center – the Virtual Reality Hub of Africa

December 9, 2015 – EON Reality Inc., Orange S.A. (formerly France Télécom S.A.), Mauritius Telecom, and State Informatics Limited (SIL) inaugurated EON Mauritius’ Interactive Digital Center (IDC) in Ebene, Mauritius. With its telecom partners, EON Mauritius will bring Augmented and Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer to mobile subscribers on Mauritius and across Africa.

The IDC will serve as a spring board for AR and VR technology in Africa and will address local industry and educational needs. To do this EON Mauritius will leverage its Entrepreneur School, the VR Innovation Academy, content factory, and virtual showroom to build a local Augmented and Virtual Reality knowledge transfer ecosystem.

“EON Mauritius will form the heart of a new technology Hub in Ebene and will form the base of a new knowledge transfer ecosystem here in Mauritius. We look forward to working with EON Reality to accelerate knowledge transfer and build a fast-track to employment for our nation’s students in areas of high global demand,” said Sherry Singh, MD of Mauritius Telecom.

Guests representing industry, government, and educational fields attended the inauguration of EON Mauritius in Ebene’s CyberCity and explored EON Mauritius’ facilities, received a hands on demonstration of EON Reality’s technology, and listened to talks from experts on how AR and VR knowledge transfer has benefited them.

“We’re teaching the skills needed to be successful in creating Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality content for industry and education that will help educate the next generation,” Prakash Padaruth, Managing Director of EON Reality Mauritius. “The VR Innovation Academy is already training its first class and the showroom is packed with state-of-the-art 3D technology. We have set the pillars in place, we are now ready to start the actual work in Mauritius and Africa.”

“With the help of strong partners, in Orange, Mauritius Telecom, SIL, and others, we will accelerate the distribution of our Augmented and Virtual Reality knowledge transfer applications to those that need it in Mauritius and the whole of Africa,” said Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality.
