February 23, 2017 – EON Reality Inc., (EON Reality) and Zhangzhou China Merchants Economic and Technological Development Zone (CMZD), land operation, real estate, port logistics and related industry of an industrial zone in Zhangzhou, have announced the creation of an Interactive Digital Center Hub located in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China. The IDC Hub is the first to be located in China and will be part of the China Merchants Zhangzhou Development Zone. The IDC will serve the local market in Fujian province and is the company’s first step towards serving the entire Chinese market.
The new IDC will create content and applications tailored to the Chinese market as well as localize existing EON Reality content to be distributed locally, with an overall aim of aiding the training of workers transitioning to higher skilled jobs or moving to new industries.
Ding Yong, director of the Zhangzhou CMZD Administration Committee, commented, “We see the establishment of the IDC Hub as an important step in CMZD’s industrial upgrading strategy”. He added, “we are building the first AR/VR Interactive Digital Center here to link with worldwide innovative networks to exchange technology. Yong added that the collaboration would allow them to “leverage the power of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality solutions and the capability of the IDC Hub to develop new skills to create an ecosystem for innovation and economic transformation.”
The IDC Hub will contain a Virtual Showroom with over 16 different AR and VR systems, an EON Entrepreneur School, an innovation center, and the multi-user EON Idome™, the first in China. The local EON Entrepreneur School will train local VR and AR professionals drawn from the population of 3D and Gaming enthusiasts in China to help develop a local Augmented and Virtual Reality ecosystem.
“This partnership marks a true milestone for EON Reality’s growth in Asia,” said Pontus Appelqvist, VP of Business Development at EON Reality. “With large training and education needs to continue their robust economic growth, we see China as prime example of how Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality can help countries accelerate knowledge transfer and fast-track new hires to become productive employees. Our partner, CMZD, is well positioned to help us reach local companies in Fujian and across China.”
The IDC Hub in Zhangzhou will open in the second quarter of 2017.
