July 28, 2021 – PhotonLens Technology Ltd., a London-based augmented reality (AR) smart glasses company, has announced a merger with Shadow Creator, a mixed reality (MR) hardware company. According to the companies, the move is part of Shadow Creator’s initiative to become a global leader in MR technology.
The two companies announced an ODM partnership in October last year, which saw PhotonLens serve as co-designer and global distributor of the ‘Photons’ AR smart glasses and lightweight active gaming system.
PhotonLens stated that after building up its mixed reality brand awareness in the European and North America market, it is aiming to deliver its first consumer-ready Photons AR glasses by the end of the year. The company has also been forming partnerships since its launch, including with fashion house Ralph & Russo, as well as with UK celebrities Gary Barlow and Ant Middleton, which has helped PhotonLens showcase the potential of its own solutions and AR technology across a variety of industries.
Shanghai-based Shadow Creator, founded in 2014, is an innovative software and hardware company operating the MR industry in China. The company has experience in AR, VR and MR development and has worked across several verticals, including education, manufacturing, technology and tourism.
PhotonLens stated that its Co-founders, Patrick Liu and Lisa Pan, are firmly behind the union and believe that under the PhotonLens UK entity the group can prepare for a successful IPO in the near future. Liu and Pan are also early-stage angel investors in Shadow Creator, and according to PhotonLens, will be well placed to help with Shadow Creator’s international expansion efforts.
