In Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality News

April 2, 2025 – Apple has this week announced the release of visionOS 2.4, the latest update to its Vision Pro headset that introduces the first set of Apple Intelligence features to the device, alongside new spatial content discovery tools.

At the core of the update, Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro introduces system wide ‘Writing Tools’ that support rewriting, summarizing, proofreading, and content generation across apps like Mail, Notes, and many third-party apps. Users can adjust tone, correct grammar, or generate entirely new text using the ‘Compose’ feature, which integrates with ChatGPT.

For images, the update’s ‘Image Playground’ feature allows users to create custom images based on themes, prompts, or personal photos. The feature is integrated into apps including Messages and Freeform, and is also available as a standalone app for Vision Pro.

Additionally, Genmoji now offers users the ability to generate personalized emoji by speaking or typing a description. These can be used inline in messages, sent as stickers, or added via Tapback. Smart Reply features in Mail and Messages provide suggested responses, while new tools in the Photos app enable natural language search and a ‘Create a Memory Movie’ function that compiles a narrative from user-provided descriptions.

Other tools include Priority Messages, Mail Summaries, and Notification Summaries. Apple stated that processing occurs on-device where possible, with larger tasks handled via Private Cloud Compute, which does not store or share user data.

visionOS 2.4 also introduces Spatial Gallery, a new app featuring curated immersive content across categories such as art, nature, sports, and culture. Content partners include Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche, with additional segments from Apple Originals such as Severance, The Studio, and The Morning Show.

Apple Vision Pro App for iPhone

The Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone allows users to discover spatial content, manage downloads, access device information, and store vision correction details. The app includes recommendations from popular apps like Explore POV and JigSpace, along with Apple Immersive Video experiences such as Metallica.

Furthermore, visionOS 2.4 lets users start a Guest User session on Apple Vision Pro with their nearby iPhone or iPad. Users can control which apps are accessible to guests and enable screen mirroring via AirPlay for easier sharing of the experience.

New Apple Immersive Video Content

With this latest release, new immersive content on Apple Vision Pro includes VIP: Yankee Stadium, launching April 4, and Bono: Stories of Surrender, which premieres May 30 in both 2D and immersive video formats.
