July 26, 2024 – DPVR, a Shanghai-based provider of virtual reality (VR) hardware and software solutions, has recently announced a partnership with Canada Computers & Electronics, a leading PC hardware and tech services retailer with stores throughout Canada. Customers located in Canada can now purchase the DPVR E4 headset online or experience it firsthand at select store locations in Ontario.
Two of the stores showing demo units feature the E4 headset paired with a racing cockpit, allowing customers to enjoy VR racing games like Assetto Corsa or DiRT Rally. Thanks to its 116° field of view (FoV) and 100% binocular overlap, the E4 provides an immersive experience with no screen door effect or motion sickness side effects, according to DPVR.
Canada Computers, established in 1991, is one of Canada’s leading retailers of computers, PC components, and other consumer electronics. With a network of 42 locations throughout the country, listing the DPVR E4 headset will help to greatly expand DPVR’s consumer offering in Canada, particularly to PC VR and sim racing enthusiasts.
The headset is available for CAD $799 (plus taxes) on the Canada Computers & Electronics website, which DPVR stated offers a more entry-level price point for a “premium 4K 120Hz visual experience.” Furthermore, the headset is compatible with SteamVR, meaning users will be able to play their favorite AAA titles and racing simulators within the Steam ecosystem using the E4.
Commenting on the partnership, Derek Liu, VP of DPVR, said: “Teaming up with Canada Computers significantly extends our reach, making our headsets more accessible to local university students. Making cutting-edge tech into affordable yet practical products has always been important in our engineering philosophy, which aligns with the initial vision of Canada Computers. We are confident that the company’s extensive experience and robust network will be crucial in supporting the tech community and elevating consumer satisfaction.”
Canada Computers & Electronics stores that feature demo units of the E4 complete with a racing cockpit setup include:
- 3828 Highway 7, Markham, ON L3R 1L7
- 720 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Unit 29-30, Mississauga, ON L5C 3G1
