In Virtual Reality News
September 25, 2023 – Lenovo has recently announced that it has partnered with Formula 1 to enhance the fan experience through the use of virtual reality (VR), with fans able to use the new ThinkReality VRX all-in-one headset to play an exclusive VR F1 mini-game at select F1 events.
The experience was first made available at the Formula 1 Lenovo Japanese Grand Prix 2023, and will be once again available at the Formula 1 Lenovo United States Grand Prix 2023, which takes place on October 22, 2023. Additionally, the ThinkReality VRX VR F1 mini-game will also be available at Lenovo’s Tech World 2023, taking place on October 23-24, in Austin Texas.
Lenovo stated that the racing game provides an opportunity to showcase the power and value of virtual reality (VR) experiences, with the F1 experience allowing users to drive an F1 car around a replica of the Suzuka International Racing Course or the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), controlling the car’s speed with the ThinkReality VRX controller’ buttons.
While playing, users can view the track from different perspectives, including a tabletop view. In fact, the experience is just like traditional tabletop electric track cars, according to Lenovo, meaning drivers can drift around corners, but can also leave the track or even fall off the table.
Lenovo launched its new ThinkReality VRX all-in-one VR headset engineered for the enterprise earlier this year at AWE USA 2023. The 6DoF (six-degrees-of-freedom) VR device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 processor and provides full-color, high-resolution pass-through capabilities for mixed reality applications. The ThinkReality VRX is also supported by a full suite of end-to-end services for organizations. These include flexible device management with the ThinkReality cloud software platform, and ThinkReality xR Services from consulting and content creation to deployment support. Similar to many enterprise solutions from Lenovo, the ThinkReality VRX is also supported by Lenovo’s Integrated Solution Support (LISS) for around the clock global customer service, as well as Device as a Service (DaaS) financing through Lenovo TruScale.
