September 6, 2024 – Rezzil, a virtual reality (VR) software developer that specializes in the production of sports gaming software for athlete training and game analysis, in partnership with the English Premier League, has this week announced the upcoming release of ‘Premier League Player’ – the first officially licensed Premier League VR game.
Rezzil first announced that it was working to develop the VR game back in March, as part of a four-year partnership with the Premier League. Now scheduled to launch exclusively on Meta Quest platforms later this year, Premier League Player will allow fans to step onto the football pitch and play in the league’s iconic stadiums. Rezzil noted that the game will feature all 20 Premier League teams, with licensed authentic kits, players and realistic stadium recreations.
Premier League Player will include a feature titled ‘Moments,’ which according to Rezzil will put players in a position where they’ll have to be the ones to make the decisive passes, score the goals, and feel the intensity of every critical ‘moment’ from the 2023-2024 season. The company stated that each moment is captured from real life Premier League action, and is recreated in VR with incredible precision.
Rezzil noted that more announcements on the game will follow as the company unveils new game modes and gameplay features later in the year, along with further details on price and release date.
Andy Etches, co-founder of Rezzil, said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring Premier League Player to Meta Quest. This isn’t just a game; it’s an experience that transports fans onto the pitch. With our ‘Moments’ feature, players can relive iconic Premier League matches as if they were there. We can’t wait to see the incredible reactions from fans when they step into the virtual world of the Premier League.”
