December 10, 2024 – Siemens, a provider of solutions for digital building management, has recently announced that it has partnered with Metaroom by Amrax, a 3D scanning and digitization tool, to enable the creation of digital twins of brownfield sites.
Metaroom, which provides a solution to digitize existing buildings, will be included in the Siemens Xcelerator—a digital business platform that helps companies accelerate their digital transformation— to enhance the capabilities of the Siemens Building X Lifecycle Twin for brownfield projects.
Digital twins are increasingly central to how buildings are managed, maintained, and optimized. Siemens’ Building X Lifecycle Twin offers a data-driven approach to managing building assets throughout their lifecycle. However, accurate and comprehensive building digitization remains a challenge, particularly for brownfield sites, according to Metaroom.
Metaroom addresses this issue by leveraging AI-powered smartphone scanning to create detailed 3D spatial reconstructions. The company stated that its platform provides a cost-efficient and accessible alternative to traditional methods, which can be resource-intensive and require expensive hardware and specialized expertise.
By integrating into Siemens Xcelerator, Metaroom will enable users to digitize spaces without the need for high-cost equipment or specialized training and expertise. Additionally, the platform’s AI algorithms ensure detailed and reliable outputs, even in complex environments, according to the company.
“With Metaroom, we’re not just making digitization accessible; we’re democratizing it,” said Martin Huber, CEO at Metaroom by Amrax. “The synergy between Metaroom and Siemens Building X Lifecycle Twin transforms how brownfield projects are approached, delivering faster ROI and streamlined implementation.”
The Siemens Building X Lifecycle Twin transforms raw data into actionable insights. Metaroom provides the accurate and comprehensive digital models necessary to support these insights and helps to achieve predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and regulatory compliance by bringing existing structures into the digital era.
“Digitization is the foundation for operational optimization and sustainability of future buildings, and Metaroom lowers the entry barrier dramatically,” stated Martin Lang, Head of Building Technologies, Siemens AG Österreich. “For brownfield projects, it enables a scalable and efficient pathway to digital transformation, aligning perfectly with Siemens mission to empower smarter buildings and cities.”
